Apple Developer Academy, Universitas Ciputra Surabaya

As AI transforms the way we work, an important question is emerging for the next generation of talent: If AI can do more of what we used to do, where does human value come from?

We explored this question with 100 learners at Apple Developer Academy @ UC Surabaya, in a session organized by axrail.ai and Universitas Ciputra Surabaya.

With five Apple Developer Academies now operating across Indonesia, initiatives like these are helping strengthen the country's growing technology talent ecosystem. But preparing young people for the future requires more than teaching new technical skills.

When AI can do the work, what remains uniquely human?

The students at Apple Developer Academy already know how to build. They can code, solve technical problems, and turn ideas into products. But AI can code too.

As automation takes over more execution-heavy tasks, professional value begins to shift. Technical ability remains important, but it is increasingly complemented by something deeper: knowing what problem is worth solving.

That means understanding context, questioning assumptions, making decisions under uncertainty, and knowing what should—and should not—be built. These are forms of judgment.

Understanding where your value lies

During the session, we used Career Mimicry™ AI to explore how AI is changing engineering work: which tasks are becoming automated and where human contribution matters most.

The goal was not to suggest that AI will replace engineers, but to help learners think differently about their careers.

Success in an AI-driven world is unlikely to come from mastering one fixed set of skills. What matters is understanding where you create value—and how that value can evolve with you.

Careers are not assigned. They are designed.

This is at the heart of what we build at Uthoppia House.

Career discovery should go beyond asking, “What job should I choose?” It should help people understand themselves, identify where their strengths can create value, and build a career direction that can adapt as the world of work changes.

Preparing for the AI era isn't just about learning new tools or accumulating skills. It's about discovering your value when skills keep changing.
